Learning Through Play at the Crayola Experience Pigeon Forge

Published Aug 17, 2023

Pigeon Forge will burst with color in 2024! The newest Crayola Experience attraction opens its doors here next fall, bringing hands-on fun and creative play to the Smoky Mountains.

The 30,000-square-foot indoor facility will feature 20 interactive attractions plus a Crayola retail store. The Pigeon Forge location will be the sixth Crayola Experience in the country.

What Can You Expect at the Crayola Experience?

The famed crayon company says visitors will be able to make art from melted wax, star in their own personal coloring pages and name a crayon color, among other activities in Pigeon Forge.

Crayola hasn’t revealed details of all 20 attractions slated for the new location, but other locations boast activities including these: The Crayon Factory Show demonstrates how crayons are made. Color Playground is a climbing adventure with bridges and towers to conquer. At Melt & Mold, visitors create their own creatures, characters or rings from molten wax. Crafting, sculpting, dancing, drawing, puzzles and more make the Crayola Experience a lively day out.

Expect a Crayola Store stuffed with souvenirs unavailable anywhere else. Typical offerings include pick-your-own-colors crayon packs, stuffed toys, Crayola’s signature art and craft supplies, mess-free art materials and school supplies.

Why Pigeon Forge?

Pigeon Forge’s strong family-friendly tourism market attracted the Crayola Experience developers, BrightColors and Kingsmen Xperience, to the region, according to BrightColors managing director Robin Turner.

Pigeon Forge is already home to popular all-ages attractions including Dollywood theme park; Wonderworks, a hands-on science attraction; and Beyond the Lens, a “techno-tainment” attraction with virtual reality and interactive games. The Crayola Experience adds to the attractions drawing families to this city on the edge of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Currently, Crayola Experiences entertain visitors in Arizona, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas and Minnesota. The new location here will be the first of five additional Crayola Experiences.
