Must-Have Kitchen Essentials for Your Pigeon Forge Cabin Stay

Your Colonial Properties cabin rental includes all the kitchen basics like cookware, dishes, glasses and mugs, and utensils. Make your Pigeon Forge vacation even more convenient by bringing personal essentials like these.

Favorite Ingredients

Familiar spices and condiments turn new dishes into comfort food! Bring cooking oils, spices, vinegars, and salad dressings. You can buy all these at Pigeon Forge stores. But bringing them with you saves money and time, and ensures you’re cooking with the basics you know best.

Food Prep Gadgets

The cabin kitchen usually has plenty of food prep gadgets, but chefs might want to toss in these backups:

  • Vegetable peeler. This can also peel fruit or shave off curls of cheese.
  • Knives. The kitchen will have them, but bringing your trusted, sharp knives is smart.
  • Chopping board
  • Whisk
  • Corkscrew

Specialty Cookware or Bakeware

For any special foods you plan to make or bake, bring the specific cookware you’d use at home. Think: Wok, lasagna dish, Bundt cake pan, or muffin tin.

Food Storage

Whether you’re putting away leftovers or packing a picnic, you’ll need storage options including:

  • Ziplock bags
  • Foil and/or plastic wrap
  • Storage containers

Picnic Must-Haves

  • Insulated cooler bag. Bring a soft-sided, insulated bag light enough to carry on a hike. Kids’ lunch totes work as well for mountain picnics as for school lunches!
  • Cooler. Hard-sided coolers might not be for everyone, especially if space is limited in your vehicle. But a cooler is useful for larger amounts of food and longer days out.
  • Freezer packs. Don’t spend money on bagged ice that you’ll just have to dump out once it melts. Invest in inexpensive, reusable plastic ice blocks. Stick them in the freezer as soon as you arrive and they’ll be ready when you need them.

Essential Caffeination

Many cabins provide a drip coffee maker or a Keurig-style “coffee pod” machine. If you prefer coffee made with a French press or pour-over, be sure to pack your personal brewing device, so you get the jolt of java you crave. Toss in your usual coffee and tea, but be sure to try local blends from Pigeon Forge’s coffee roasters, too.

Start planning your Smoky Mountains vacation now. Soon you’ll be cooking at your Pigeon Forge cabin rental.
