Why September is the Perfect Time for a Cabin Getaway in Pigeon Forge

Bright, breezy, pumpkin-spicy fall descends on Pigeon Forge in September! Book an affordable, luxurious cabin and see why the ninth month showcases the Smokies at their finest.

Incredible Weather

Temperatures are ideal for outdoor activities, as summer’s heat and humidity fade. Daily highs hover in the low 80s. Evening lows hit the comfortable 60s. You might even need a sweater for nighttime strolls along the Parkway!

Colorful Fall Foliage

If you love the glowing hues of autumn, but don’t love crowds, visit in September. Fall colors won’t be peaking, but neither will the leaf-peeping tourists. In early September, colors spark at the highest elevations, gradually cascading down the mountain slopes with each passing day.

Cozy Cabins

Whether you book a large cabin for a reunion or an intimate cabin for a romantic getaway, cabin life is so peaceful. Breathe crisp mountain air while you toast marshmallows at a fire pit. Relax in a bubbling hot tub. Warm up that pumpkin pie you bought at the farmer’s market, and enjoy it with hot cider or cold moonshine.

Classic Car Shows

Pigeon Forge has so much to do in September! Two car shows thrill gearheads of all ages. Smoky Mountain Street Dreams (Sept. 6-7) features vendors, entertainment and competitions. The Fall Rod Run (Sept. 12-14) is the region’s largest auto show, with competitions and family fun.

Lively Music

September brings two of Pigeon Forge’s biggest music events. Traditional and modern bluegrass take over the LeConte Center Sept. 20-21 for the Pigeon Forge Bluegrass Festival. The National Quartet Convention moves into the LeConte with gospel performances, Sept. 22-28.

Dollywood’s Harvest Festival

Follow the sweet scent of cinnamon bread to find Dollywood’s Harvest Festival, starting Sept. 9. Eat luscious treats, experience enchanting Hoot Owl Hollow, and watch as more than 12,000 pumpkins glow each night!

Autumn in the Mountains

Fewer visitors, lighter traffic, and the start of foliage season all make September perfect for exploring Great Smoky Mountains National Park. With 800 miles of trails, from easy strolls to strenuous climbs, the park gives you endless hiking options.

September is especially lively in historic Cades Cove: Watch the 150-year-old mill grinding corn just like early settlers did. Volunteers also demonstrate how to make the old-fashioned sorghum syrup that’s so popular on pancakes here.
