Pigeon Forge’s Famous Food: What to Eat and Where to Find It

Get a true taste of Pigeon Forge’s signature foods! This town is famed for Southern vittles, locally caught trout, BBQ, and homemade candies. Here’s your guide to locating the tastiest food in the Smokies.

Southern Food

Plenty of spots serve Southern comfort food, including these:

Tennessee BBQ

Mouth-watering BBQ is a Pigeon Forge favorite. Pulled pork is the star, but you’ll also find BBQ beef brisket, chicken, ribs and much more.

  • Preacher’s Smokehouse. Try “burnt ends” (juicy chunks with a tasty char), the brisket sandwich, or the ribs at this small family restaurant.
  • Boss Hogg’s BBQ Shack. You can’t miss the aroma of meat in the outdoor smoker! Smoked sausage is a speciality, along with ribs and brisket. Not into BBQ? No problem, thanks to tasty chicken and dumplings or country fried steak.
  • Bennett’s Pit BBQ. This popular BBQ joint smokes meats over hickory wood. Specials include spicy brisket, Cow Poke Chili, and jalapeno sausage.

Trout from Mountain Streams

  • English Mountain Trout Farm & Grill. Catch your own trout from a stocked pond–the farm provides all the gear you need. Cooks prepare your fresh trout so you’re eating your catch in no time. Don’t want to fish, or don’t like trout? Just order from the menu!
  • Smoky Mountain Trout House. The menu offers 10 different rainbow trout dishes, plus catfish, chicken, shrimp, and burgers. Ask for a table by the cozy fireplace.

Homemade Candy

Specialty shops handcraft candy to eat in your vacation cabin or take home as a gift.

  • Smoky Mountain Candy Makers. This taffy specialty shop boasts dozens of flavors, made in-house.
  • Old Mill Candy Kitchen. Located at the historic Old Mill, the shop features traditional Southern pralines, nut brittles, and divinity, plus hand-dipped chocolates, candy apples, and hard candy,
  • Country Candy Kitchen. Look for the red-trimmed shop holding a wide variety of sweets, including secret recipe fudge made in copper kettles.
