Tips for Visiting Pigeon Forge on a Long Weekend

Pigeon Forge is the perfect long weekend escape, with natural beauty, fun for all ages, and private cabins for restful nights. Use this itinerary to make the most of your getaway.

Reserve Your Cabin

Book your cabin rental early, so you get the widest choice of cabins. With Colonial Properties, you can find cabins with private pools, game rooms, movie theaters, and other luxurious amenities!

Friday

Kick off your trip at Dollywood. Friday is the weekend’s best bet for a less crowded visit.

Park downtown and take the trolley to the theme park. Enjoy everything from heart-pounding thrill rides to gentle rides for young ‘uns. Listen to music, watch artisans at work, see bald eagles, and eat Southern vittles and sweet treats.

Spend the evening relishing #CabinLife. Get a taste of Tennessee with takeout BBQ to eat on the deck, with a view of the Smokies. Watch a movie in the theater room before you hit the hay.

Saturday

Start the morning at WonderWorks, the hands-on experience where you can lie on a bed of nails, feel an earthquake, or pretend you’re an astronaut. Head for the Titanic Museum Attraction, where you become a passenger aboard the ill-fated ship. Finish the afternoon playing mini golf at any of a dozen delightful courses.

Combine dinner with a show. Feast while comical pirates swashbuckle across a real, indoor lagoon, at Pirates Voyage. At Dolly Parton’s Stampede, watch 36 horses and their expert riders as you dine.

Sunday

Drive the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. Stop along the motor trail to visit settlers’ historic cabins or hike to Rainbow Falls. Near the trail’s end, pause to see the Place of a Thousand Drips, a beautiful cascade next to the road.

Stop at The Island. This combo of amusement park and shopping area is open late, with rides, boutiques, restaurants and the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, a Ferris wheel with breathtaking Smokies views. Take a spin to end the evening.

Monday

After breakfast at your cabin, and an easy, remote checkout, try one last adventure you can’t have anywhere else in America! Go “zorbing” at Outdoor Gravity Park: Roll downhill in a giant,  inflated ball, laughing all the way! Or try another local tradition, mountain coasters. Glide downhill with the breeze in your hair. Then head home, tired but happy.
