Jakes Creek Trail

Jakes Creek Trail offers a peaceful 3.7-mile roundtrip hike that begins with a walk through history. From the parking area, hikers first follow an old gravel road for about 0.4 miles, passing through the remnants of the historic Elkmont community. Tall stone chimneys and scattered foundations from the former “ghost town” create a unique and memorable start to the journey.
Beyond the historic section, the trail transitions into a scenic 3.3-mile forest hike within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Surrounded by lush greenery and mountain tranquility, Jakes Creek Trail is a great choice for visitors who want to combine natural beauty with a glimpse into the Smokies’ past.
