Laurel Falls Trail

Laurel Falls Trail is one of the most popular waterfall hikes in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This short out-and-back trail leads 1.3 miles from the trailhead on Fighting Creek Gap Road to an impressive 80-foot, multi-tiered waterfall. It’s widely considered one of the best and most accessible waterfall experiences in the Smokies.
The falls are named after mountain laurel, a native shrub that blooms beautifully in May and can often be seen along the trail and near the waterfall. The roundtrip hike typically takes about two hours, depending on your pace and how long you stop to enjoy the view.
While the trail is paved, portions can be uneven and rough, so sturdy footwear is still recommended. Because of its popularity, the trail is frequently busy, and parking at the trailhead can fill quickly. Arriving early in the day can help you enjoy a more relaxed visit to this iconic Smoky Mountain waterfall.
